What personal data we collect and why we collect it
During the use of our website, we will collect a range of data; this can vary depending on how you use our site with the examples listed below. We collect your personal data during an order to ensure we create, process and deliver your product as requested. We then store this information on file to enable us to re-create this order should you ever wish to order this again. Offline we also keep a file of your details including a swatch of leather to enable us to match this as closely as possible if you ever require repair work.
By default, our website CMS does not collect any personal data about visitors, and only collects the data shown on the User Profile screen from registered users. However, some of our apps may collect personal data. The relevant collection of data is listed below:
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. This is also captured by Google Analytics to process the source in which your visit came from and the pages in which you visited prior to your comment and following your comment.
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Our website contact forms utilise your personal data to help ensure we can respond to your enquiry quickly and efficiently. Your name, email address and any additional data you enter are transferred to us. We have kept the information you fill in on the form to a minimum; this is to ensure your personal data is both secure and very minimal. Once a form has been filled in we will then communicate through our secure server email.
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt into saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. How long we retain your data
How long we retain your data varies; on google analytics, we keep this historical data to monitor market trends and how our business continues to grow. The data collected here is not directly associated with you, it merely offers us the location, date and time you visited our site and the actions you performed on the site. So if you shop with us in 2017 we can see if you returned in 2020. We keep records of customer purchases for around 10-20 years; while this may seem like an incredibly long period of time, many of our customers repeatedly purchase with us over this time. We also keep records of what each customer has purchased to provide excellent customer service no matter how long ago you purchased from us.
Our live chat we keep for a period of 2 years; this is due to the long process it can take to handmake a product and how long some customers work with us on their dream project. This historical record enables us to refer back to any conversations where the product specifications are discussed.
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

We’re a small family business, so while our GDPR compliance is required we’re also still human. We endeavour to ensure your personal data is always kept private; we will always inform you should we notice a breach in our site or at our premises. We never buy or sell your information and we hope that you enjoy your shopping experience with us. How we protect your data
We will always strive to protect your data; we have a small team at Geoffrey Parker, all of which are family members and only two with access to the website and personal data. No other staff members have access to this information. We require two-factor authentication for all users on this website and strong passwords. We have also implemented WordFence security on this site to always ensure your data is sufficiently protected against malicious hacking or data breaches. We have a non-disclosure agreement in all staff contracts and staff are made fully aware of GDPR and data protection. staff training in data protection.
What data breach procedures we have in place
When a data breach is discovered we aren’t only duty-bound to inform those who may be affected immediately but we also morally wish to let all who may have been affected know as soon as possible. We will also always work to ensure the data breach is fixed as soon as possible.

While we try to avoid third-party data we do receive information from google AdWords from our advertising efforts.
WooCommerce – Our Shop
We collect information about you during the checkout process to process your order. We don’t ever get to see your payment information. We track your clicks and time on our store, we also track which pages you visit during your shopping experience to help us improve it for future users.
What we collect and store
While you visit our site, we’ll track:
- Products you’ve viewed: we’ll use this to, for example, show you products you’ve recently viewed
- Location, IP address and browser type: we’ll use this for purposes like estimating taxes and shipping
- Shipping address: we’ll ask you to enter this so we can, for instance, estimate shipping before you place an order, and send you the order!
When you purchase from us, we’ll ask you to provide information including your name, billing address, shipping address, email address, phone number, credit card/payment details and optional account information like username and password. We’ll use this information for purposes, such as, to:

- Respond to your requests, including refunds and complaints
- Process payments and prevent fraud
- Set up your account for our store

Our live chat is provided by Tawk.to this is a third-party provider who stores your personal details in our account. This enables us to refer back to our conversations and helps us to serve you better from the record of chat. For example, if we’ve discussed colour combinations for your product or you’ve sent us an email address to contact you on we’ll need this as a reference to help you.
